Today was my first day following Cynthia Sass’ Cinch! plan. It’s a great book and even if you don’t plan to go on the food plan, it’s very informative about the foods we eat. In the five days you eat five different foods in different combinations:
Spinach
Raspberries
Almonds
Organic Eggs
Nonfat plain organic yogurt
(Approved Seasonings)
The book gives you the different recipes using those three ingredients for your meals and snack. Today for breakfast I had the scrambled eggs with a side dish of raspberries, lunch I had a parfait, dinner a salad and then snack a smoothie.
Of the five food items on the list I like all but the yogart, so I thought this should be pretty easy. Wrong! We’ll see how things go tomorrow but there is a couple of things I will do differently for it to be better tomorrow. First, I used frozen raspberries and frozen spinach for breakfast and lunch. The raspberries were super tart and hard to eat. The thawed spinach didn’t taste good at all. So tomorrow I will be using fresh, though the reason I had frozen raspberries is because they aren’t in season and I couldn’t find fresh ones. I finally found some at the seventh grocery store.
The second thing I’m going to be doing differently is the amount of balsamic vinegar in my salad. Lindsey, who is also doing this plan, had warmed me about it, but when I was making the salad I forgot. I was reminded really quickly about the vinegar after my first bite.
I’m determined to stick this out so I’m hoping things go better tomorrow
